NEW! “Sergeant Charles Tice” Memorial Created and Sponsored by the Clark Pleasant Police Department
“Clark Pleasant Police Department believes that relationships are a prerequisite for influence…We are dedicated to sustaining relationships by creating a safe and reliable environment for our community through professionalism, planning, training, and experience.”
CPPD is proud to announce that we have created a scholarship in line with these goals. The scholarship will be awarded to the student who most represents their ability to be professional, plan for the future, train to accomplish their goals, and have drive for experience. These traits were exemplified by IMPD Sergeant Charles Tice who believed that working hard was the best way to show those he worked with that he cared.

Want to Start a Scholarship?

Here are a few things you need to know.
       Funding:
  1. If Clark-Pleasant Education Foundation (CPEF) holds and invests your money, we typically apply the rule of 4%. In order for a scholarship to live on in perpetuity we invest the money in our endowments and only take a 4% to use each year to fund the scholarship. What does that mean? If you donate $25,000 that will produce a $1,000 scholarship each year.  This formula can be extrapolated out to accommodate however much you want to give out each year. This option can utilize our scholarship selection committee or you may form your own committee to decide the winner(s).
  2.  If you would like to take over and name one of our established Pathways to the Future Scholarships-a 4 year renewable scholarship that already has a set criteria, application, and committee to pick the winner and a ceremony to present the winner- then you can put your funds into that account and rename the scholarship. To fully fund one of these scholarships is $100,000. A payment plan can be used to fund it over the course of a few years if that is of interest to you. This option would require a CPEF committee to pick the winner but you are welcome to be on the scholarship committee.Investment Management:
The Clark-Pleasant Education Foundation partners with an experienced investment management firm to manage the investments. Our friends at Koon Financial Planning & Consulting have a rich history in managing non-profit endowments. Koon Financial and the board of CPEF monitor and guide the investment strategy to ensure it follows the detailed investment policy for the foundation. The advisors at Koon Financial are Certified Financial Planners® and can also advise donors on tax efficient giving strategies.
    Criteria:
Each scholarship should have a specific criteria for the student applying. If you choose option 1 then you would have to set the specific criteria for your scholarship. If you choose option 2 then the criteria is already set, but you can add in an item or two for preference to that named scholarship.
    Choosing a winner:
Each scholarship must have a committee to choose the recipient(s). We recommend a group of 5 or more. You can utilize the CPEF Scholarship Selection Committee, Or you can have your own committee.
    Timeline:
Most Scholarships are open for students to apply at the beginning of the second semester of their senior year. Applications close typically around spring break in March. Committees will have winners picked and sent to CPEF in April. Winners are announced at a ceremony either end of April or beginning of May. Typically checks are cut to the student’s school of choice in July.

    Questions?:
CPEF is happy to help you set up a scholarship. We appreciate your generosity and your support of CPCSC schools and students. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. jzahm@cpcsc.k12.in.us 317-535-5459
