Art students from Whiteland Community High School
Fine Arts Grant Winner 2026

Congratulations to Emily Litsey winner of the 2026 Fine Arts Grant

Grant Dollars in Action- thanks to the Spring Fine Arts Grant!🎨

Art students from Whiteland Community High School, led by Emily Litsey, created a vibrant and welcoming mural at the Ruth Callon Center—designed to reflect the many supports and opportunities available to students there.

The Ruth Callon Center serves K–5 students in a Trauma and Behavior Program, offering a safe, supportive environment where students can grow socially, emotionally, and academically. Rooted in trauma-informed care and positive, conscious discipline practices, the program ensures students feel safe, valued, and understood.

The mural beautifully reflects that mission—featuring a rising sun to symbolize new beginnings, butterflies and flowers representing transformation and growth, and elements highlighting opportunities like music therapy, art therapy, and gardening. Bright, rainbow-inspired colors bring energy and positivity to the space for students and families.

A special touch includes a painted “W” in the entryway, symbolizing that the Ruth Callon Center is part of the Whiteland community and that we are all unified.

As Emily Litsey shared: "The students had a great time and we really enjoyed this partnership with the Ruth Callon Center."

This is what Grant Dollars in Action is all about—empowering students to use their talents to create spaces that inspire, support, and uplift others. 💙
